Revell 1940 Ford pickup

Post by sandboarder »

My second Hot Rod styled build will be this if I can make it work. I just read the instructions and it's a pretty simple kit. So this will be flat grey and built like a drag car. I have a TPB resin manifold, belts and blower to suit the kits flat head V8. I'll then use bits from my CHI-TOWN Hustler kit I stole the engine from for a 32 3 window I built a few years back. So I'll use the racing wheels and diff. I will try and use the drag racing spoiler on the rear too. Hopefully I can get this kit to sit low rather then high like a gasser. I might also use the 78 Firebirds high rise manifold spacers, carbys and air cleaners to really get some height on the motor.

Started mocking is one up and it looks mean until you realise that only the air filters will actually pop out of the bonnet.

Let me know what you's think. Is the motor big enough or do I need to find something taller??? I really want this to look like a mean drag racing ute

Cheers guys, I appreciate the feed back. I think I've got the stance 90% there. It'll probably be just a little lower in the rear. I think once I find/make something so the carbys mount to the blower properly. I'll just get the carbs poking with the two air cleaners hanging out. Colour will be AS-31 ocean grey but unsure if it'll be flat or gloss yet. Red motor and driveline with clear red Windows like a gasser :) thinking about some kind of a 1/2 cage to for the cab.

If that's a Tamiya colour it will be flat one. You need to use Tamiya clear.

Go with flat clear or semi gloss.

I'm going to use some decals so I'll need a clear coat to even it all out. I'll wait until I can mock it up in colour before I decide thumbsup
