Hoonicorns

Post by bodgybro »

I remade the Hoonicorn V1 and Hoonicorn V2, all the same body, with interchangeable bonnet, side exhausts for V1.

I had these printed through shapeways and my chinese printer for helmets, to compare options vs cost.

I'll let the pictures do the talking, i'm sure you can all see what i see.
The chinese body is polished ABS, very smooth and needs no clean up, just primer.
The Shapeways is Nylon and rougher, does need some primer putty and sanding to smooth out for primer.

Left chinese, right Shapeways

in this case, it does appear so.
Had similar issues with the WRX's I got from another chinese printer tho, they were packaged badly. these were packed similar but better, i expected they would be ok but i was wrong. i will make some reshaping chocks like i did for the WRX's and see if i can rewarp the roofs and A pillars back into shape.

going cheap.... 1 Hoonicorn V1 and 2 Hoonicorn V2 bodies

Chinese surface looks better, pity about the warpage, is that caused by lack of supports whilst printing question

I think it's the packaging. they tape them down to a piece of cardboard, shapeways put them in plastic bags inside a bubble cocoon.
I'll make some support pieces and try to reshape them.... if not, comvertible hoonicorns!!
